The challenge

In 2020, an estimated 88 Million households own a pet in Europe, representing about 38% of all households. Pets are an essential part of our lives, thus a big problem arises when we are not home to take care of them, especially for extended periods of time. Examples are being on vacation or at the doctor's office. It is hard to find someone trustworthy to take care of your pet, leaving you heavy-hearted while you are away as unfortunately, pet abuse can still occur.

The solution

PetWatch combats this issue by bringing together pet owners, such that they can give each other a helping hand. By doing this, we ensure that everyone has appropriate experience taking care of a respective pet as well as giving them the opportunity to earn some extra cash while doing so. A bonus: their pet gets a friend to play with. At PetWatch, we provide a unique service to allow pet owners to go on a relaxing vacation whilst getting their pet taken care of by a 'Pet Watcher'. As our pet watchers are fellow pet owners, you can be assured that they have your animal's best interest at heart. The process of selecting a pet watcher of your liking will occur after you have created your own profile. We will match your interests and caring effort for your pet with a pet watcher who has made a similar profile. You will be able to choose from a variety of pet watchers with similar profiles and place your pet in their care and contact them at any point in time during your vacation. The system works like an Airbnb platform where fellow pet owners list their available dates, their pricing, and the particular functions they provide (e.g. caring for dogs with allergies, allowing video calls, etc). To sum up, PetWatch is a P-2-P pet sitting service in an app which connects fellow pet owners - trust is given and the pets even gain a (furry) friend to play with. :-)
